William Barraud |
(English, 1810 -1850 ) |
William Barraud, a pupil of Abraham Cooper, shared a studio with his younger brother Henry, with whom he collaborated, exhibiting sporting scenes and portraits both singly and jointly. At the Royal Academy where he first showed when he was eighteen, he exhibited forty-four of his own paintings and fifteen in collaboration with Henry.
William was considered the more talented of the brothers, but his career was cut short by his untimely death. Among his engravings published in the Old Sporting Magazine was a portrait of the racehorse "British Volunteer" and four prints of greyhounds. |
