(American, 20th C. ) |
Roy Andersen received his training from the Chicago Academy of Art and at the Art Center School for Design in Los Angeles, later moving to Chicago where he developed a career in illustration. Andersen's work has appeared on the covers of many national magazines, including The National Geographic and Sports Illustrated, but it was the early 1980's, after moving to Sedona, Arizona, where, in addition to painting western scenes, he also became interested in portraying dogs. His paintings were used by the United States Postal Service for a series of stamps commemorating the centennial of The American Kennel Club in 1984. He now specializes in painting western scenes from his studio in Arizona.
Andersen has exhibited his work extensively, including a one-man exhibition at the Society of Illustrator in New York City. He is represented in many private and public collections. |
