John Henry Dolph
(American, 1835 -1903 )

J.H. Dolph Specialized in the painting of cats and dogs. He was elected a Member of The National Academy in 1898. His work is represented at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts by his portrait of Charles Loring Elliott.

Dolph Studied animal painting with Louis van Kuyck in Antwerp and established himself as one of the best painters of that genre in America. He won a medal at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo in 1901.
