Filippo Palizzi
(Italian, 1818 -1899 )

Palizzi was originally destined for the bar but ultimately devoted himself to painting. He became a student of Bonolisa at the Academy of Naples and also studied in Paris in 1830. A historical, genre, landscape and animal painter, he was made President of the Neapolitan Institute of Beaux-Arts. He was of the 19th Century Italian realist school. His works are in many museums around Europe.
